arrival wine

MV Delamotte Champagne, Brut, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cóte des Blancs, France

Pairing Notes: We are thrilled to begin the evening with bubbles from one of our favorite houses. This wine is predominantly grand cru Chardonnay. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are added to finish the personality of the wine. The finish is elegant and perfectly balanced with notes of white flesh fruit, pear, and ginger.

first course

2017 Penfolds RieslingBin 51, Eden Valley, South Australia

Pairing Notes: Penfolds originally began in 1844 with the intention of making medicinal wine. While they are known for the reds, namely St. Henri and Grange, tonight we wanted to share and highlight this dry, yet delicious Riesling. Tropical fruit flavors make this pairing with Ahi Tuna and Szechuan Peppercorns magical.

second course

2017 Prieure de Montezargues Rose, Tavel, Rhone Valley, France

Pairing Notes: This estate is owned and operated by the Richard family under the Chateau La Nerthe umbrella. The vineyards are certified organic. The wine features notes of raspberries and strawberries with a refreshing, yet round, palate. It serves as an incredible complement to the Smoked Pork and Prosciutto.

third course

2015 Machherndl Gruner Veltliner, Smaragd Kollmitz, Wachau, Austria

Pairing Notes: Erich Machherndl is the 8th generation owner of this estate that dates all the way back to 1786. The philosophy is a simple one, focus on tradition. This wine shows notes of orange citrus, white plum, and sage. The wine is full bodied and stands strong and proud with the Scallop, Poached Figs, and Summer Squash.

fourth course

2014 Perinet Red Blend, Priorat, Spain

Pairing Notes: This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache, and Carignan. The wine has beautiful aromas and flavors of cherries, plums, tobacco, and violets. It is incredibly complex and features a silky texture on the tannins courtesy of the licorella slate from the vineyards. It is absolute perfection with the Braised Oxtail.

dessert course

2010 Alienor Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, ‘Lune de Miel’, Lake County

Pairing Notes: Alienor is a tribute to Aliénor of Aquitaine and to the substantive contribution she made to the fine wines of Bordeaux. The glass is loaded with aromas and flavors of honey, nectar, and ripe peach. This is a gorgeous companion to the Vanilla Cream Puff and Passion Fruit. We could not think of a better way to bring the evening to an end.
