arrival wine
MV Laurent Perrier Champagne, Brut, La Cuvée, Tours Sur Marne, France
Pairing Notes: We are thrilled to begin the evening with bubbles from one of our favorite houses. This wine is predominantly Chardonnay. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are added to finish the personality of the wine. The finish is elegant and perfectly balanced with notes of white flesh fruit, peach, and lemon zest.
first course
2016 Léon Beyer Pinot Gris, Alsace, France
Pairing Notes: This winery is one of the oldest Alsatian family owned estates, founded in 1580. It is currently in the 13thgeneration, with Marc Beyer. The palate is rich with notes of peaches and almond that settle well next to the Hawaiian Walu. The balanced acidity and long finish also complement the Beurre Rouge and Brussels.
second course
2016 Frantz Chagnoleau Chardonnay, Les Raspilléres, Viré Clessé, Mâconnais, France
Pairing Notes: Frantz and his wife, Caroline, present us with this bright and delicious glass of wine. Certified organic farming practices coupled with minimal intervention in the cellar, produce truly stellar wines. Ripe peaches mingle with pears and a beautiful texture lends itself to the Crab Pot Sticker and Persimmon Beurre Blanc.
third course
2016 Kelley Fox Pinot Noir, Ahurani, McMinnville, Oregon
Pairing Notes: Kelley Fox produces Burgundian style Pinot Noirs and gained much of her influence by David Lett, pioneer of Oregon wine. Farming practices at Momtazi Vineyard is all biodynamic. That translates into a glass riddled with notes of fresh herbs and forest floor. Those same notes make for a spectacular experience when enjoyed with the Pork Cheeks and Autumn Squash.
fourth course
2016 Le Macchiole Red Blend, Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy
Pairing Notes: Le Macchiole was founded in 1983 by Eugenio and Cinzia. The vineyards have been farmed organically since 2002. That was the same year Eugenio passed and Cinzia continues to run the estate. The wine is a merlot based red blend that has complex notes of blueberry, blackberry, and a hint of lingering spice that is bound to make it a favorite with the Beef Tenderloin.
dessert course
MV Menéres Fine Ruby Port, Douro, Portugal
Pairing Notes: Menéres is currently into the 14thgeneration of the van Zeller family, making it the longest unbroken “dynasty” in the Portuguese wine trade. This is a blend of younger ports, made from the Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cao varietals. They are aged in large oak vats, or tonels, and are rich with plum and raspberry flavors. Notes of dark fruit give way to the Holiday Figgy Pudding.
