arrival wine
MV Delamotte Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cóte des Blancs, France
Pairing Notes: We are thrilled to begin the evening with bubbles from one of our favorite houses. This wine is 100% Chardonnay and features soft aromas of green apple, brioche, and lemon zest. The finish is lush and perfectly balanced with a note reminiscent of fine, silky chalk.
first course
2014 Champalou Chenin Blanc, Le Portail, Vouvray, Loire Valley, France
Pairing Notes: This year’s going to start on the right foot. This is an exceptional example of Chenin Blanc: notes of melon, tropical fruit, and a bright backbone of tangerine and lemon. The nose features a note of honeysuckle while the palate shows tree bark and wet wool. A great complement to the sweet and sour scallops.
second course
2013 Fessina Carricante, Etna, Sicily, Italy
Pairing Notes: A good example of what Italy’s 3000+ varieties are like. Carricante is a unique grape with a very neutral nuance to it. It is riddled with under-ripe lemon, dusty chalk, and citrus blossoms. The palate bursts alive when paired with crab. The savory squash sauce will flourish with this wine as well.
third course
2012 Mayacaba Malbec, Mi Terruño, Mendoza, Argentina
Pairing Notes: This is a phenomenal, fruit forward, zingy Malbec. Its fleshy dark fruits will complement the smoked duck breast wonderfully. Loads of black and blue fruit highlight the glass and will sing with the huckleberry compote and almond madeline ‘bread pudding.’
fourth course
2012 Hickinbotham Merlot, The Revivalist, McLaren Vale, Australia
Pairing Notes: Plush, round and richly robust, this is a Merlot fit for all types of Cabernet lovers. The palate is filled with intense flavors of juicy ripe plums, blackcurrants, and figs. A toasty cedar is interlaced with chocolate and baking spices to complement the tenderloin.
dessert course
2008 Henri Bourgeois Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, Vendange de la Saint Charles, Loire Valley, France
Pairing Notes: A special treat to finish off such a grand meal. This gem shows a true expression of 100% late harvest Sauvignon Blanc grapes. A great backbone of tropical fruits will complement and make the tropical compote dance on your taste buds. Welcome to the new year!
