arrival wine
MV Laurent Perrier Champagne, Brut, La Cuvée, Tours Sur Marne, France
Pairing Notes: We are thrilled to begin the evening with bubbles from one of our favorite houses. This wine is predominantly Chardonnay. Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are added to finish the personality of the wine. The finish is elegant and perfectly balanced with notes of white flesh fruit, peach, and lemon zest.
first course
2015 Robert Craig Chardonnay, Gap’s Crown Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
Pairing Notes: The goal every year at Robert Craig is to make a white wine worthy of comparison to the finest in the world. This 100% Chardonnay from the Gap’s Crown vineyard in the Sonoma coast is a crisp and clean way to enjoy the lobster cake. It offers bright aromas of pear and white peach. The flavors are racy and precise with a finishing touch of mineral and flint.
second course
2017 Tessier Gamay, Barsotti Vineyard, El Dorado
Pairing Notes: This very small production of Gamay is a local treat from a scientist turned winemaker Kristie Tacey. She sources the fruit from Ron and Chuck Mansfield’s well known Barsotti vineyard in El Dorado. The aromas of rhubarb and bright red fruit meet with the fava bean ravioli, and the gentle salinity of the Gamay cuddles up nicely with the wild mushrooms.
third course
2017 Markus Gewurztraminer, Nuvola, Clarksburg
Pairing Notes: Swiss born Markus Niggli established Markus in the Clarksburg area and believes in the philosophy of fruit and age. This weighty and concentrated Gewurztraminer is coming from the North Delta area of Grand Isle. The fruity aromas dance with the sofrito and once again on the palate with lychee fruit and meyer lemons. Enjoy!
fourth course
2014 Alpha SMX Red, Macedonia, Greece
Pairing Notes: In Northwestern Greece, Makis Mavridis and Angelos Latridis founded Alpha winery and blend traditional Greek varietals with more contemporary varietals to achieve bliss. This blend of Syrah, Xinomavro, and Merlot is a show stopper with the rack of lamb and tzatziki. Full bodied with deep dark fruits. It is rounded out with solid tannins to carry on for a long finish.
dessert course
MV Malvira Brachetto, Birbet, Canale, Piedmont, Italy
Pairing Notes: From the Piedmont region of Northwestern Italy, the Damonte family brings this juicy gem to the table. This 100% Brachetto dessert wine beams with strawberries and rose petals on the nose as well as the palate. This is a fun, playful pairing with the rhubarb huckleberry crisp. Welcome, Spring!
