arrival wine

MV Louis Roederer Champagne, Brut Premier, Montagne de Reims, France

Pairing Notes: This grower Champagne from their Premier Cru classified vineyards is comprised of about forty percent Pinot Noir, forty percent Chardonnay, and twenty percent Pinot Meunier.  Striking a perfect balance between youthfulness and maturity, seduction and character, freshness and vinosity, Brut Premier is a champagne that is harmonious and structured, elegant and lively, with a unique exuberancy.

first course

2014 Solid Chardonnay, Carneros

Pairing Notes: We are going to kick the warm July evenings off with this lovely Chardonnay. It is produced as a collaboration between Samantha Lloyd – kin of Robert Lloyd, and winemaker, Adam Ivor. This wine has beautiful aromas of peach pie, honey, and ripe apricot. The wine is full bodied and voluptuous and has just enough acidity to make it a great wine for pairing with the corn bisque.

second course

2014 Wind Gap Trousseau Gris, Fannuchi-Wood Road Vineyard, Russian River Valley

Pairing Notes: Your second course has met its match with a fresh varietal you may have never heard of, a Trousseau Gris. This wine is kissed with the slightest bit of color from pigmented skins. This brief skin contact also lends a nice weight to the palate that is balanced by fruit and bright acidity. It is filled with aromas of grapefruit, flowers, and zesty tangerine. Your tongue is met with a kiss of melon, rose petals, and a delicate red fruit finish.

third course

2014 RoseRock Pinot Noir, Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon

Pairing Notes: This Pinot Noir has a lovely, deep red color. The nose is floral, spicy and beautiful, with an intense, savory character. On the palate, there are notes of dark berry preserves, a touch of caramel, black cherry, dried flowers, and tilled earth. It is a very balanced wine that has great structure and is a perfect pairing for the duck.

fourth course

2011 Lexington Cabernet Sauvignon, Gist Ranch Estate, Santa Cruz Mountains

Pairing Notes: Lexington Wine Co is located on the Pacific Plate of the Santa Cruz County at an elevation of 2400 feet. This Gist Ranch Vineyard was planted in the year 2000 and carefully farmed for ten years to optimize organic, sustainable farming practices. This wine in particular is the inaugural vintage for the winery. On the nose it features cassis, sweet dark berries, tobacco leaf, and stony soil tones. The palate is impeccably balanced, with an excellent core, and has great structure between ripe tannins, tangy acids, and a mineral drive.

dessert course

2009 Truchard ‘Perfect Moment’ Roussane, Carneros, Napa Valley

Pairing Notes: This wine features a floral nose of dried apricots, honeysuckle, and peach. The mouth is filled with intense flavors of nectarine, baked apple, and wild flower honey. It finishes with a firm acidity and provides a crisp finish of citrus and spice. A “Perfect Moment” truly occurs when enjoyed with the Peach Meringue Pie.
